🚗 Getting There, Together: How FreeWorld Supports Your Ride
We know transportation can be a challenge, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. FreeWorld offers Uber as a backup option when there’s no other safe or reliable way for you to get to school or appointments.
Before requesting an Uber, we encourage you to explore other available options:
🚶♂️ Carpooling with classmates
🚌 Public transit (if accessible)
🧑🤝🧑 Asking a friend or family member for help
🚲 Using a bike or walking if you're close enough
Every time a Free Agent is able to provide their own ride, it helps us stretch our resources farther, allowing us to support even more people on this same journey. That kind of teamwork makes a huge impact. 💪
Here are some Transportation Resources Listed by City. If you have any suggestions to add to the list, just let a Success Coach know! We want to help as many people as we can in your area, and every resource helps.
But if nothing else works out, don’t worry. We’ve got you. Just follow the steps to request your Uber.
📍 Does FreeWorld help with transportation to any location?
Not quite — Uber rides are available only between pre-approved locations. By default, these include:
🏠 Your home address
🩺 DOT clinics near you
🏢 DMV/DPS locations near you
🚛 Your assigned trucking school
If you need an Uber ride involving other locations, you must request to add an approved location (see instructions in the previous transportation guide).
🚦 How do I order an Uber ride when I’m ready?
Follow these steps to order your Uber ride through the Student Portal:
✨ Step 1 – Log In
- Go to app.freeworld.org
- Enter the email you used to apply to FreeWorld to log in.
🗂️ Step 2 – Navigate to the Uber Request Section
- Once logged in, go to the “Getting Our CDL Permit” section on the homepage.
- Scroll down to the section that says: “Get an Uber to get your DOT physical.”
- Click on: “Get an Uber Now.”
📃 Step 3 – Review and Agree to Terms
A screen will appear explaining how Uber rides work in FreeWorld and that we’re testing this feature to improve your experience.
✅ Read the terms carefully
✅ Click “I agree to these terms.”
🏠 Step 4 – Select Your Pickup Location
- You will see the question: “Where are you now?”
- The portal will show your home address we have on file.
💡 Important: If your address has changed, contact FreeWorld to update it before ordering your Uber ride.
✅ Select your current home address as your pickup location.
🏢 Step 5 – Select Your Destination
- Next, you’ll be asked: “Where are you going?”
- Select your destination, for example: “The DMV or DPS to get your permit.”
🗺️ Step 6 – Confirm Your Destination
- A map will appear showing possible destination locations.
- Addresses are listed from closest to farthest from your pickup location.
🧐Double-check the address to ensure it is the correct DMV/DPS location you plan to visit.
🧐Click to select your destination.
✅ Step 7 – Review Your Ride Details
- You will see a screen showing your:
- Pickup location
- Drop-off location
- Carefully review both to ensure they are accurate and correct.
✔️ Is this where you are right now?
✔️ Is this where you need to go?
If everything is correct, click: “Get my Uber now.”
🚕 Step 8 – Wait for Confirmation
Once you submit your request:
- FreeWorld sends it to Uber
- Uber finds you a driver
- You will receive a text message with:
✅ Confirmation that your ride is on the way
✅ Your driver’s name
✅ The car details
✅ Estimated pickup time
✅ A link to track your driver in real time
🔁 Ordering Your Return Ride
After your appointment (for example, at your DOT physical or permit test):
✅ Log back into the student portal
✅ Repeat these same steps to order your Uber back home
💡 Tips for Success
- Always check your phone for text updates about your driver’s arrival.
- Be ready at your pickup location when your driver arrives.
- If your address changes, update it with FreeWorld before ordering rides.
