• Home utility bill (including cellular phones

• Any document issued by a government agency (includes state, local, or federal government entities with agency name, department name, seal, or on official letterhead)
• California vehicle/vessel Certificate of Title or registration
• Change of address confirmation from the U.S. Postal Service

• Court document that lists the applicant as a resident of California
• Voter registration confirmation letter or postcard from California Secretary of State or local elections officer
• Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) return

• Any school document from a U.S. educational institution (must include date of birth)
• Foreign school document sealed by the school and includes a photo of the applicant
• Proof of payment of resident tuition to a California public institution of higher education

• Medical document
• Insurance document (medical, dental, vision, life, home, rental, and vehicle)

• Employment document
• Record from any financial institution (banks, credit unions, credit card statements, etc.)

• Faith-based document with the name/address of issuing organization
• Letter on letterhead from a homeless shelter, shelter for abused women, nonprofit entity, employer, faith-based organization, or government within the U.S. attesting to California residency

• If residency document(s) addressed to you are not readily available, you may use a birth certifcate, marriage license, or domestic partner registration certifcate to trace your relationship to the individual to whom the acceptable residency document(s) are addressed.

• Provide a letter on the facility’s letterhead with:
  • Name, Date, Address, and Phone Number
  • Representative’s name/signature
• The letter must state the facility will accept mail for the applicant.
   

• Homeless applicants without a residential address must provide a letter from a government entity or a not-for-profit organization with:
  • Letterhead showing the facility's name, address, and  number
  • Including the legal representative's name, signature, and signature date.
  • The letter must state "will accept delivery of mail for the customer."

• Must provide a properly certified government-issued document showing their name, and a description of the residence's location

• In order to meet the requirements for proof of address, we suggest bringing more documentation than is necessary for every visit to a DMV office.
• Junk mail or bulk mailing (coupons, weekly mailers, advertising) and any hand-written documents are not acceptable as proof of address documentation.

• If you reside with someone and have no bills in your name, you will still need to provide two proofs of residency.
• One proof is to bring the person with whom you reside along with
  their Driver's License or Photo ID to the Driver License Center.

  provide a second proof of residency such as post-marked mail/package labels through USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. that has your name and address on it. The address must match that of the person with whom you reside.
